Testing Guide
- The first step is figure out whether or not your items are silver plated or not. To do a quick visual check grab a piece from the set and look on the back for a mark. If that mark says Sterling it is most likely not plated. If it says SP, EPNS, EP, EPBM, or BP then it is definitely plated.
- After you have determined what items are sterling add up all of their weights. The knives however are often tricky as their blades are almost always stainless steel. The large knives can be counted as 0.5 ozt while the small handles can be counted at 0.25 ozt.
- Once you have weighed and added everything thing up multiply your total weight by 0.925 and then by the current price of silver. That will get you the value of your set in terms of pure silver content.
